Oaklawn’s second-leading owner in 2017

  • Waters, who owns a commercial flooring company in Seattle, started his first horse in 2016 and scored his first stakes victory with Princessof the Nyl in the Washington Oaks in 2018 at Emerald Downs. He was among Oaklawn’s top 10 owners in 2019 with seven victories. The seventh victory (Redneck Attack) marked the 100th in the Oaklawn career of trainer Ingrid Mason. In 2020, he was once again amoung the top 10 with eight winners. He won two races in 2021.
  • Waters was Oaklawn’s second-leading owner in 2017 with 11 victories from 40 starts. All 11 winners were trained by Waters’ close friend, Jack Van Berg. Waters honored Van Berg by naming a To Honor and Serve colt after the late Hall of Famer. Jack Van Berg, then trained by Van Berg’s son, Tom, made his 3-year-old debut at the 2019 Oaklawn meeting and finished second in an allowance race.
